Our plant was tested at the time of division and found to be free of both ORSV and CymMV, the two most common orchid viruses, which are frequently found to infect older clones.
Choseiran (Den. moniliforme) are native to Japan, and grow in deciduous forests well north of Tokyo. The Japanese have selected for different characteristics of growth habit, flower shape, color and size, cane color and shape and, of course, leaf color and shape. They have been cultivated "since ancient times", but wild types are becoming more and more rare.
This particular clone was selected for its hot-pink color and excessive fragrance. The thin mahogany canes make a good contrast with the dark green leaves and the flowers (about 1 1/2 inches across).
The plant is currently being offered for $30 plus shipping. It is no longer in bloom, however, but is sending up new growth. To get to the listing, click on the "Contact" button below and leave a message. We can then send you an updated photo and payment details.
